Since 1452
A CITY AS A WINEMAKER
Since 1452, a rare jewel of Austrian wine culture has flourished in the heart of Krems — Weingut Stadt Krems. Nestled within the city's historic center, it ranks among the oldest still-operating wineries in the world.
What sets it apart is more than age alone. This estate is not merely located in the city — it belongs to it. Owned by the people of Krems, it is a living testament to centuries of civic pride, craftsmanship, and connection to the land.
Every bottle carries not just the flavor of the vineyard, but the spirit of a city that has nurtured wine as part of its very soul for over half a millennium.

Tradition
WINE CULTURE LIVED
In 1991, when the Traditional Wine Estates of Austria (ÖTW) were founded, our winery proudly joined as a founding member — united by a shared vision: to recognize and honor Austria’s finest single vineyards.
This mission goes beyond simple classification. It’s about capturing the true character of each place — the soil beneath our feet, the changing seasons, the grape varieties, and the careful hands in the cellar.
By capturing the essence of our appellations and traditions in each bottle, we aim to offer not just quality, but clarity — a compass in a world of countless origins. For those who seek not just wine, but a sense of place, of craft, of continuity.

Origin
KREMSTAL
The 40 hectares of vineyards at Weingut Stadt Krems, managed by Fritz Miesbauer since 2003, lie entirely within the city limits of Krems. Historic vineyards like Grillenparz, Lindberg, Schreck, Wachtberg, and Weinzierlberg have proven their quality over centuries, standing as some of the city’s most respected sites.
Our Grüner Veltliner and Riesling grapes reflect the distinctive character of the Kremstal DAC appellation — shaped by the unique soils, climate, and also the Danube, that define this special region.
